Objectives

To expanded and facilitate access to a professional, vocational, technical, and continuing education; To serve as a research university in its various fields of expertise with specialization by conducting basic and applied research and development; Serve as a Provincial University in cooperation with local, regional, national and global networks of colleges and universities and scholarly and professional associations in the Asia-Pacific region and around the world; To develop more fully the Filipino intellect and physical capabilities for productivity and social usefulness to generate in advance human knowledge and disciplines covered by its programs; To give professional trainings and public affairs as well as in cultural, technological, scientific and vocational fields; To offer quality education at a reasonable and affordable cost for all who qualified for admission, particularly the financialy disadvantaged but talented and deserving youth

Functional Statement

In line with the policy of the state to promote the right of all citizens to quality education at all levels, the Laguna University, by virtue of Provincial Ordinance No. 1, series of 2006 was established on February 15, 2006, to make quality education accessible to the less privileged but talented and deserving students of Laguna. The Province of Laguna envisions LU to become a development-driven academic institution, aspiring for as a center of excellence in academic performance and co-curricular activities, and catalyst for community transformation, poverty alleviation and wealth creation through quality education.

 

History

The Provincial Government of Laguna is committed to pursue a constitutional provision under Article 2 Section 17 to establish a university and promote the rights of all Lagunenses to quality education at all levels. It is also aware of its obligations to give the less privileged but talented and gifted students of the province of Laguna the opportunity to develop their potentialities and is committed to establish and operate vocational, technical, and higher education to accommodate graduates of secondary schools to pursue vocational, technical and higher education courses. By virtue of Provincial Ordinance No. 1 s. 2006, the Laguna University was established on February 15, 2006. The incumbent governor was elected President and Chairman of the Board of Regents under Resolution No. 198. A s. 2006 dated March 29, 2006 by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan ng Laguna.
