Laguna University CS Department Leads 3rd CS Training 2026 on 3D Printing Innovation

The Department of Computer Science of Laguna University conducted the 3rd CS Training 2026 on April 30, 2026, at the university’s Multi-Purpose Gymnasium, bringing together students and technology enthusiasts for a learning session on 3D printing through discussions, demonstrations, and interactive activities. Carrying the theme “Innovate and Fabricate: Introduction to 3D Printing,” the training highlighted the growing importance of 3D printing in both academic projects and real-world applications.

The event followed a structured program that combined inspiration, discussion, and practical demonstration. It began with registration and an invocation, followed by an inspirational message from Mr. Ronnie V. Edec, Program Coordinator of the Bachelor of Science in Computer Science.

In his message, Mr. Edec emphasized the relevance of the training in preparing students for future academic requirements. He noted that knowledge of 3D printing would be especially useful in developing hardware-related projects, including customized cases and physical prototypes. He encouraged students to expand their perspective beyond software and consider how hardware integration can enhance their outputs.

A key highlight of the event was the discussion led by Mr. Joel Urbiso, a faculty member of the Laguna University College of Computing Studies. Mr. Urbiso is also the owner of Maxprint, a business where he applies 3D printing technologies in actual production. His experience in both teaching and entrepreneurship allowed him to present practical insights into how 3D printing can be utilized across various industries.

During his session, Mr. Urbiso introduced the fundamentals of 3D printing, including its processes, materials, and applications in fields such as manufacturing, healthcare, and product design. He also shared how his business experience demonstrates the potential to transform technical skills into sustainable ventures.

The discussion was followed by a live demonstration, where participants observed how digital designs are converted into physical objects using 3D printing technology. This segment provided students with a clearer understanding of the process and sparked interest in hands-on innovation.

An open forum allowed participants to raise questions and gain further insights into the technology. The event concluded with the awarding of certificates led by Laguna University Computer Science Organization (LUCSO) President Ms. Andrea Liwanagan, followed by closing remarks from Mr. Joshua A. Dela Rueda, marking the end of a productive learning session.

The activity was spearheaded by the Laguna University Computer Science Organization (LUCSO) officers, under the guidance of their adviser, Mr. Dela Rueda, in coordination with the Department of Computer Science, which led the overall conduct of the training.

The 3rd CS Training 2026 demonstrated the university’s continued commitment to equipping students with relevant technical skills and practical knowledge. Through initiatives like this, Laguna University strengthens its goal of producing competent and innovative graduates prepared for the demands of a technology-driven world.
