STA. CRUZ, Laguna — Students from the Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science in Psychology programs gathered for the two-day Psychology Week 2026 celebration themed “The Great Agora: Where Minds Compete, Hearts Connect,” held at the Cultural Center of Laguna and Laguna University.
Organized by the Asosasyon ng Sikolohiya sa Unibersidad ng Laguna (ASUL), the event aimed to promote academic excellence, camaraderie, and holistic student development through seminars, competitions, and recreational activities.
The opening program featured a message from Dr. Charlemagne Laviña, University President, who encouraged psychology students to pursue their profession with passion and purpose while recognizing the importance of psychology in society.
Meanwhile, BA Psychology Program Coordinator John Mark G. Lafavilla welcomed the participants and expressed appreciation for the support shown during the celebration.
A seminar titled “Guidance in AI” was also conducted, featuring resource speaker Ma. Princess Theresa Bituin. The discussion focused on the role of artificial intelligence in guidance and counseling and its relevance to future psychology professionals.
The first day also highlighted PSYCH Got Talent 2026, where students showcased their talents in music and performance arts. Flora Mae Bautista and Elisabern Labatiao secured second place for their synchronized duo performance, while Niña Untalan placed first. BAND DURA emerged as the champion of the competition. Faculty members also participated in musical performances during the program.
Dhimple De Los Santos, a first-year BA Psychology student, shared that the event allowed students to enjoy activities together while gaining additional knowledge from the seminar, particularly on the use of artificial intelligence. She also expressed admiration for the talents presented by fellow psychology students.
Certificates were awarded to ASUL officers in recognition of their service, while 11 Certified Human Resource Associate passers and eight Civil Service passers also received special recognition for their achievements.
The second day featured PaPSYCHLaban 2026, where students participated in basketball and volleyball competitions that highlighted teamwork and sportsmanship. Simultaneously, the Mobile Legends tournament and Quiz Bee competition were held at the Library Extension.
In the Mobile Legends tournament, Femme & Fury from the first year emerged as champions, while Mga MA-PSYCH-IP, composed of second- and third-year students, claimed first place in another category.
During the Quiz Bee competition, third-year BS Psychology student Mary Nicole Tabuzo motivated her teammates despite trailing in the early round. Together with Mara Samonte and Zyla Mercado, they staged a comeback and won the competition.
The celebration concluded with an awarding ceremony and closing remarks from Lafavilla, who thanked the students, faculty members, and organizers for contributing to the success of Psychology Week 2026.
