Empowering LGUs: Laguna University Facilitates Phase II GHGi and eLCCAP Workshop for Municipality Santa Cruz

Ms. Joselle A. Banocnoc, Dean of the College of Computing Studies, and Mr. Ronnel C. Palasin, Assistant Professor I from the College of Education, proudly served as resource speakers in the recently held Greenhouse Gas Inventory (GHGi) Workshop at El Cielito Hotel, Santa Rosa City. The training was attended by Santa Cruz LGU. MDRRMO, MSWDO, RHU, MEO, MPDO, MAO, CSO-SMB, MGSO-MENRO, Office of the Municipal Technologist.

This workshop forms part of Phase II of our GHGi and Enhanced Local Climate Change Action Plan (eLCCAP) Project, an initiative we consider one of our best practices in research and community extension. This project further builds on the commitment to assist all 6 cities and 24 m unicipalities of the Province of Laguna with their climate change action.

We emphasized the significance of connecting local initiatives to the provincial and national mandates and the importance of connecting with the provincial and national mandates, which include Republic Act 9729, Executive Order 174 (2014), and the guidelines from the Climate Change Commission (CCC). We also highlighted the relevance of Provincial Ordinance No.11 s. 2015 and its amended provisions under Provincial Ordinance No. 24 s. 2022, which reinforces the integration of Greenhouse Gas Inventory practices into the Enhanced Local Climate Change Action Plan (eLCCAP).

Through ensuring this alignment, LGUs are better able to monitor and reduce greenhouse gas emissions, but also subsequently build a more resilient and sustainable future for their communities. With the support of valued partners and local teams with the ability, this project will continue to move forward: making meaningful impact throughout Laguna, one municipality at a time.
