It was attended by representatives from the teaching and non-teaching departments. A total of 75 personnel attended the two-day training – 42 personnel for the first day, and 33 personnel for the second day.
The training had the following objectives: (1) Enhance employee awareness and understanding of common workplace injuries and medical emergencies; (2) Provide hands-on training in administering basic first aid and life-saving interventions; and (3) Foster a safety-conscious workplace culture. It also covered the legal basis of providing first-aid treatment and important reminders and precautionary measures in administering first-aid. Participants were also able to practice different techniques using the triangular bandage, as well as rescuing techniques and proper administration of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), after the demonstration from the resource speaker.
Ms. Carolyn R. Yosolon Matienzo, RN from the LU Medical and Dental Clinic spearheaded the training. The second batch of the training is scheduled for the 2nd Semester of Academic Year 2025-2026. The exact date is yet to be announced.
