Santa Cruz, Laguna – July 30, 2025 — Laguna University was honored with multiple awards by the Philippine Red Cross – Laguna Chapter during the annual Blood Donor’s Recognition Day held at the Cultural Center, Provincial Capitol Compound. These recognitions underscore the University’s unwavering dedication to public health, volunteerism, and civic engagement.
Laguna University received the “Pinakamadugong Laban ng mga Bayani” Mobile Blood Donation Award for its exemplary role as a Blood Program Partner in 2024. The University achieved an outstanding total of 263 blood units donated, equivalent to 118,350 cc of blood, through its campus-wide mobile blood donation campaigns. This milestone highlights the active participation of LU students, faculty, and staff in supporting the life-saving mission of the Philippine Red Cross.
Dr. Charlemagne G. Laviña was conferred the “Pinakamadugong Laban ng mga Bayani” Organizer Award for his exceptional service and leadership in organizing mobile blood donation activities throughout the year. As coordinator, Dr. Laviña successfully partnered with the Red Cross to recruit and retain blood donors, promote volunteerism, and foster a culture of social responsibility across the LU community.
Laguna University was also awarded the Certificate of Recognition – Platinum Category for its high-value contribution to the National Blood Services Program. The University collected 133 bags of blood, equivalent to 59,850 cc, from January to December 2024. This award reflects LU’s continuous commitment to health advocacy and community partnership.
