Laguna University Produces Two New CPAs in May 2024 Licensure Exam

SANTA CRUZ, Laguna — Laguna University has produced two new Certified Public Accountants following the results of the May 2024 Licensure Examination for Certified Public Accountants (LECPA) released by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC).

John Kristofer S. Almontero and Glenda A. Royo successfully passed the three-day board examination held from May 26 to 28, joining the 3,155 passers out of 10,421 examinees nationwide.

In an online interview, Almontero reflected on his academic journey and work-life balance, sharing that he worked night shifts at McDonald’s for five years while attending classes during the day. He encouraged full-time students to stay focused, take advantage of their available time, and remain committed to their goals.

“If you have all your time to study or need not do side hustle, be thankful and focus on your goal. Kayang-kaya mo ’yan—just don’t be distracted,” Almontero said.

He also offered advice to aspiring CPAs, emphasizing three key values: resourcefulness, by maximizing modern tools and flexible work schedules; resilience, by learning from setbacks; and faith, by constantly praying for strength, wisdom, and guidance.

The Laguna University community, particularly the Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants (JPIA) – LU Chapter, expressed pride in the accomplishments of Almontero and Royo.
