Laguna University strengthens community ties through partnership with DOLE-GIP

Calamba City, Laguna – Laguna University (LU) is taking a significant step towards enhancing educational opportunities and building community relations through an invitation received from the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Region IV-A Calabarzon. The initiative promises to further bolster opportunities for LU students and contribute to the development of future leaders in the region.

A formal partnership agreement was solidified through the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) on April 30, 2025, at Hotel Marciano in Calamba City, Laguna. The event was attended by no less than the President of Laguna University, Dr. Charlemagne G. Laviña and PALO Director, Mr. Tony Angelo C. Alvaran.

The event marks a fruitful collaboration in strengthening the relationship between LU and DOLE, fostering collaboration and providing valuable real-world experience for LU students. As part of this initiative, Laguna University has been allocated 10 internship slots for students, available for a period of 132 days, or approximately six months. The allocation of these slots underscores the DOLE’s commitment to investing in the youth of Calabarzon, aiming to bridge the gap between academic training and practical work experience.

Laguna University is understandably thrilled about this opportunity, as it places the university among a select group of academic institutions invited for collaboration, alongside various schools, universities, and government regional offices within the Calabarzon area. The collaboration will allow Laguna University to guide students more effectively, integrating practical experience with academic learning. It also presents a chance for curricula to be aligned with industry standards, ensuring that students are not only academically qualified but also industry-ready.

Once more, congratulations to Mr. Tony Angelo Alvaran for job well done.
