The Laguna University-Community Extension Services (LUCESU), Research and Development Center (RDC) and College of Engineering (COE) deployed the Pandan Presser and Slitter Machine, a technological innovation developed by students of LU for community utilization. This significant event took place during the Sambalilo Festival at the Town Plaza of Cavinti, Laguna, a weeklong celebration (August 1-6, 2023) providing an excellent opportunity to initially showcase the machine through an exhibit.
Hon. Rolan O. Villegas, the Barangay Chairman together with the constituents of Brgy. Tibatib as the major recipient, was present to receive the machine and show support for this innovative initiative. Representing Laguna University were key personalities including Dr. Rosemarie D. Sabado, the OIC-Vice President for Academic Affairs, Joselle A. Banocnoc, CESU Director, Rhodora A. Custodio – CES Coordinator, CAS, Engr. Julian Carl A. Barias – CES Coordinator, COE, and Engr. Gaious Joe L. Bautista, a Faculty Member from COE. The deployment of the Pandan Presser and Slitter Machine not only marked a collaborative effort between the academic institution and the community but also showcased how research and technology could be harnessed for practical community utilization. This event highlighted the potential of education and innovation to address local needs and foster progress in the region.
