SPORTS NEWS | CCS Earns Silver in Sepak Takraw After Thrilling Finals Against Engineering at LU Sportsfest 2025

The College of Computing Studies (CCS) secured the silver medal in a high-stakes Sepak Takraw championship match against the dominant College of Engineering (COENG) during the Laguna University Sportsfest 2025. The finals were held on February 12, concluding a three-day tournament from February 10–12 that tested skill, strategy, and stamina.

CCS put up a fierce fight but ultimately fell short in a best-of-three match, with final scores of 13–15, 15–5, and 10–15. The game drew loud cheers from the packed venue as spectators witnessed a heated showdown between two of the event’s top contenders.

The CCS teamβ€”composed of Olivo, Remegio, Baisad, and Mendozaβ€”dominated earlier rounds with an impressive winning streak against other colleges. Their cohesive plays and sharp techniques earned them a spot in the finals and the respect of fans and competitors alike.

Known for their standout movesβ€”Olivo’s blazing kicks, Remegio’s smart setups, Baisad’s solid defense, and Mendoza’s lightning-fast offenseβ€”the team worked under the strategic guidance of Coach Mr. Luyon, who orchestrated plays that kept CCS competitive throughout the tournament.

Following the intense final match, Olivo remained upbeat, saying, β€œOkay lang, masaya naman. Babawi next year.”

Though CCS narrowly missed the gold, their performance demonstrated determination and teamwork. The silver medal stands as a symbol of their hard work and rising strength in Sepak Takraw. With this momentum, CCS aims to return stronger in next year’s Sportsfest.
