Laguna University’s Music and Bands Society (LU MABS) held “The MABSTERPIECE: Where Laguna University Musicians Unite for One Rhythmic Passion, One Note at a Time” on November 20, 2025, at the LU Covered Court, gathering registered members for a day of learning, music appreciation, and performances.
The program opened with registration, a prayer led by John David Saballa, and the singing of the National Anthem and LU Hymn by the officers. Adviser Mr. Jerwin Andres Anas delivered an inspiring message emphasizing discipline, passion, and teamwork, followed by Dr. Charlemagne G. Laviña, who shared how music shaped his youth and encouraged students to continue nurturing their craft.
Officers also discussed the organization’s bylaws, reinforcing members’ values and responsibilities.
Speaker sessions featured Mr. Jerwin Anas on guitars, string techniques, and vocal performance; Mr. Richard Villaflor on drums, percussion, and rhythm; and Mr. Ryniel Santos on piano lessons, covering hand positioning, chords, progressions, and reading music. Their demonstrations enriched members’ understanding of musical disciplines and band performance.
The program then moved to creative showcases, starting with the Acoustic Battle, followed by the Battle of the Bands, where performers displayed teamwork, creativity, and stage confidence. Outstanding performers were recognized during the awarding ceremony, which also honored the collective effort of all participants.
The event concluded with closing remarks from Jonas Kristoff Baguistan, who highlighted that The MABSTERPIECE celebrates passion, artistry, and unity within the university’s musical community. Masters of ceremonies Yuuki Takase, Jeremiah Reyes, Johndavid Saballa, and Emmanuel Piamonte ensured a smooth flow from start to finish. The MABSTERPIECE stands as a testament to the commitment of LU MABS in cultivating talent and building a community where music brings students together with one rhythm, one passion, and one note at a time.
