On September 14, 2023, the College of Computing Studies (CCS) conducted its Parent’s Consultation, to foster stronger communication and understanding between the school and parents of CCS students. The event, hosted by James Guevarra, was conducted via Zoom Meeting.
Mr. Marlon L. Atanacio, Dean of the College of Computing Studies, initiated the event with a welcoming and heartfelt message about teachers being the second parents of the students. He stressed the importance of cooperation between parents and the teacher, in ensuring the success and well-being of CCS students. Following Dean Atanacio’s message, Ms. Chrisna L. Fucio, Prefect Dean of Discipline, delved into the school policies on discipline and Rules of Conduct. Her comprehensive presentation provided parents with valuable insights into the school’s approach to maintaining discipline and a conducive learning environment.
The event also featured a discussion on student activities facilitated by Ms. Bea May Belarmino and Mr. Christian Jay Tantan, advisers of the Laguna University College of Computing Studies Organization (LUCCSO). They shared details about the various activities and initiatives available to CCS students like the General Assembly, Exposure trips, Tech Night, CS Night.
To provide parents with the opportunity to seek clarification and gain a deeper understanding of the topics discussed, an open forum was conducted. Mr. James Guevarra, Mr. Marlon Atanacio, Mr. Kurt San Jose, Ms. Meca Ibarrientos, Ms. Chrisna Fucio, and Mr. Mc Joshua De Lima, faculty members of the CCS Department, answered all questions posed by the participants.
Mr. Christian Jay Tantan, adviser of the ITS_LU, delivered the closing remarks, emphasizing the importance of continued collaboration between the school and the parents.
 Additionally, an election for PTA (Parent-Teacher Association) officers was held, underlining the commitment of parents to actively engage in the educational journey of their children. As Bob Beauprez stated, ‘Education is a shared commitment between dedicated teachers, motivated students, and enthusiastic parents with high expectations.
