LU-CCS Hosts the Virtual CCS Parents’ Consultation 2024

The Laguna University-College of Computing Studies (LU-CCS) held a fruitful and significant virtual parents’ consultation on September 20, 2024. The virtual session aims to strengthen and bridge the relationship between the parents and the CCS faculty members.

To formally open the session, Mr. Mc Joshua Y. de Lima, BSIT program coordinator, delivered his opening remarks. He mentioned that one of the highlights of the consultation is the upcoming departmental activities, which intend to provide the students with a clearer perspective and hands-on experience in their chosen career paths.

Present during the session was CCS Dean, Dr. Marlon L. Atanacio, who delivered his welcome message for the participants. According to him, the CCS consultation is held yearly in order to establish a connection between the parents and teachers. Dr. Atanacio believes that Laguna University is considered the second home for the learners, where educators play a vital role in co-parenting and helping to shape the lives of the students. He ended his message by expressing his genuine gratitude for the parents who show endless support in their child’s educational journey at Laguna University.

In continuation, the Prefect of Discipline, Ms. Chrisna L. Fucio, gave important and insightful reminders about the student conduct and behavior. Part of her reminders includes uniforms, appropriate grooming, and proper decorum of the students. Along with these rules and regulations are the offenses and sanctions that the students must face if disobedience is performed. She highlighted the purpose and crucial role of student conduct and behavior inside the campus to maintain peace and harmonious relationships between individuals on the premises of Laguna University.

The highlights of the virtual session were discussed by the faculty in charge of the College of Computing Studies, Mr. Kurt Robin A. San Jose. The attendees, especially the parents, were engaged in the discussion of the upcoming activities, including the 2024 CCS Company Visit. Mr. San Jose thoroughly elaborated the vital information about this event, including the location, companies, and payment for this activity. He also emphasized the requirements that the students must complete in order to join the company visit. His discussion served as an enlightenment for the attendees regarding the upcoming activities; he mentioned that the College of Computing Studies believed that the goal of conducting different activities is to enhance the learning of the students beyond classrooms. The learning and knowledge are not limited to the four corners of the classroom; that is why it is vital for the students to experience activities that can equip them with the insights and skills that they need for their chosen path.

To address the concerns and questions in relevance to the discussion, Mr. James Aaron F. Guevarra, along with the other CCS faculty, diligently answered each of the questions raised by the attendees. Most of the questions were in line with the upcoming CCS company visit. The parents and other attendees were given the chance to express their concerns, which were successfully addressed by the CCS department. This part of the virtual session provided a clearer understanding for the attendees in relation to the subject matter.

Mr. Ronnie V. Edec, the program chair of the Bachelor of Science in Computer Science (BSCS), facilitated the Election of Officers. In the end, the nomination was a success, as they came to the agreement that the parents of the student officers will also be the ones who will take the position to complete the set of parents’ officers.

Truly, the objectives and goals of the CCS Parents’ Consultation 2024 were achieved in the end. It was a sweet success for both the parents and the CCS faculty, as both parties were able to establish a strong connection and a sense of partnership.
