Like a gladiolus in its golden moment, the LALIHAN Federation of the Laguna University – Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants (LU-JPIA) bloomed as it concluded its radiant term with an Awarding Ceremony held at the Oreta Building Lobby, May 23.
Under the theme “Gladiolus in Full Bloom: Celebrating Triumphs Woven in Petals,” the event marked not just the end of the federation’s term but also the culmination of a year rooted in growth, resilience, and accomplishment.
With petals representing progress and triumphs, the ceremony honored the Bachelor of Science in Accountancy (BSA) students across academic, non-academic, leadership, and sports categories. Awards in the form of certificates, plaques, and medals were presented with each one symbolizing a bloom that thrived despite challenges.
LALIHAN Federation President, Ms. Ma. Lourdes E. Valenciano reflected on the federation’s journey as she delivered the Annual Report, highlighting a year filled with initiatives meant to nurture the academic and holistic development of accountancy students.
“JPIA aims to be an organization that supports our fellow students in their academic and non-academic endeavors,” Ms. Valenciano shared.
“We ensure this by continuously exposing and encouraging the accountancy community to join accounting and taxation competitions outside the university and through the internal activities prepared by our federation,” she added.
But more than the awards and titles, the ceremony served as a garden of stories, from humble beginnings to flourishing leadership, recognizing the significant impact made from the first-ever event up to the last gathering.
“Ang fulfilling maging student leader, serving the LU-JPIAns with dedication,” outgoing Vice President for Audit, Ms. Xylene T. Vicmudo said.
“Hindi naging madali pero hindi rin naging sobrang hirap lalo na’t kasama ko ang mga napakagaling na set of officers ng LALIHAN. It was a memorable last year sa LU, I am forever grateful for this opportunity,” she expressed.
The symbolism of the gladiolus flower resonated deeply with the officers and students. According to Ms. Maricar Del Rosario, the newly elected Vice President for Non-Academics, the flower perfectly encapsulated their journey.
“Gladiolus is the symbol of LALIHAN. Napag-usapan nga namin na sa Oreta nag-start ang federation na ito noong General Reorientation, unfurling of petals yung theme, and dito rin siya natapos ngayong Awarding Ceremony kung saan gladiolus is in full bloom na, what a fruitful year it has been talaga,” she stated.
As responsibilities were officially passed to the incoming officers, the federation left behind a trail of petals, a testament to a year fully blossomed. And like the perennial gladiolus, LU-JPIA stands ready to rise again, year after year, ever in pursuit of excellence and service.
