On October 10, 2025, Laguna University Library (LUL), in collaboration with the Community Extension Services Unit (CESU), facilitated a Book Giving Activity titled “The Pages with Purpose: Laguna University Book Giving 2025,” held at Barangay Kanluran Kabubuhayan, Nagcarlan, Laguna. The initiative aimed to distribute underutilized books from the LU Library to schools, partner communities, and organizations that can benefit from them for educational purposes.
The activity began with an opening prayer led by Ms. Arlene Z. Francia, followed by a welcoming remark from from Mr. Jesse E. Granada, Barangay Kagawad, who represented Barangay Chairman Mr. Ben T. Platero. In his message, he expressed gratitude to Laguna University for its continued assistance and commitment to community development.
Ms. Justine Faith O. Samson, Head of CESU, delivered her inspirational message. She emphasized the importance of education and reading as tools to empower the youth and strengthen the community.
Meanwhile, Mr. Edwin G. Soretes Jr., College Librarian I, discussed the objectives of the program and emphasized the transformative power of education and access to learning materials.
A symbolic book turnover ceremony followed. The LU CES coordinators, volunteers, Sangguniang Barangay (SB), and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) officials came together in unity. They shared a sense of responsibility to empower the young people by providing them with access to books and learning materials.
The program concluded with closing remarks from Mr. Gabriel Matthew P. Lopez, SK Chairman, who thanked all the stakeholders for their support and encouraged continued collaboration in advancing educational initiatives. A group photo session capped off the meaningful activity.
