Laguna University’s officials, Dr. Monette O. Bato (University President), Dr. Rosemarie D. Sabado (Vice President for Academic Affairs), Dr. Alex Macario C. Cecilio (Vice President for Administration), and Engr. Paul Gerard R. Lasangre Cruz (Assistant Vice President for Administration), attends the 17th Commission on Accreditation for Local Colleges and Universities (ALCUCOA) National Conference that was held at the Diamond Hotel Manila on December 12 to 13, 2024, with the theme “Quality Assurance of Philippine Education: New Issues and Trajectories.”
Dr. Raymundo P. Arcega, the President and Executive Director of ALCUCOA, spearheaded the event. The conference was attended by keynote speakers, Hon. Alan Peter S. Cayetano, senator of the Republic of the Philippines, and Hon. Ma. Nieves R. Confesor, the former Secretary and Executive Director of Asian Institute of Management.
The first day consisted of the welcome remarks, presentation of LCU Presidents, delegation, and guests, message from the ALCUCOA founding president, direction setting, the first keynote message, eight (8) plenary sessions, global engagement talks, and the awarding of the certificates.
During the first day, Laguna University (LU) has once again demonstrated its commitment to academic excellence and institutional growth by bagging four (4) prestigious awards at the 17th Commission on Accreditation for Local Colleges and Universities (ALCUCOA) National Conference, held at the Diamond Hotel Manila.
LU was able to receive the Academic Excellence Award for demonstrating Excellence in Education. This recognition is a reflection of the outstanding performance of its graduates, as evidenced by the board examination results and producing board topnotchers, through the following:
- Ms. Blaisy Jane A. Argete, a Bachelor of Elementary Education (BEED) graduate, who ranked 8th in the March 2024 Licensure Examination for Teachers with an average of 91.00%
- The institution’s passing rate is continuously above the national passing rate in the March 2024 Licensure Examination for Teachers
- Achieving 100% passing rate in November 2023 Midwifery Licensure Examination, coupled with a rating above the national passing rate in the April 2024 Midwifery Licensure Examination
- Ranking 3rd in the Top Performing School in the April 2024 Midwifery Licensure Examination
LU was also able to receive the Human Resource Development Award 2024 in recognition of the steadfast commitment to welfare of its personnel through strategic human resources intervention programs designed to empower employees, enhance work environment, and promote the overall well-being; as well as the Bronze Award for the 2024 Best Website Design and Management, for its commitment to effective communication and outreach in emphasis to the establishment of a visually appealing ad informative website that significantly contributes in building and maintaining a positive institutional image and reputation.
LU is also proud to receive the Model Local Chief Executive Award 2024 awarded to Gov. Ramil L. Hernandez, the Provincial Governor of Laguna and Chairman of LU’s Board of Regents. This award is in recognition of the exemplary leadership and unwavering commitment to education as a vital component for social mobility and community development.
The recognition bestowed to Laguna University signifies the institution’s relentless pursuit of excellence, and the continuous strive for greatness, and the collective effort of its personnel, as well as its students. The institution continues to aim to be a pillar in the field of education.
On the second day, a recap of the first day was relayed, as well as the message from the ALCUCOA founding executive director and a representative of the Commission on higher Education (CHED). This was then followed by the plenary session 9 to 14, and a keynote speech in between. The signing of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) was held after the sessions, succeeded by the QA testimonials, closing remarks, 2024 ALCUCOA Assembly, and the Election and Proclamation of the New Board of Directors for three vacant positions.
Through this tradition of recognizing and celebrating exemplary institutions for their dedication and achievement, ALCUCOA’s commitment to excellence shines through. This event also reflects the commitment of ALCUCOA to continuously develop and improve the quality of Philippine education in its various aspects, through collaboration between local, national, and international institutions.
