In a recent event, the Laguna University-College of Education organized a Professional Development Webinar on September 1, 2023, via the Zoom platform. The webinar, titled “Unveiling Inner Strengths: Nurturing Mental Health and Cultivating Self-Confidence,” aimed to empower student interns to refine their skills and nurture their personal growth.
The event commenced with an opening remarks by Mr. Carlo Joquino, the Chairperson of the Experiential Learning Courses (ELC). He extended a warm welcome to the College of Education faculty, student interns, and distinguished guest speakers.
The first speaker of the webinar was Mr. Royce A. Salva, a Teaching Intern Supervisor at De La Salle University-Dasmarinas’ College of Education. Mr. Salva emphasized the importance of self-belief and the development of a teacher with a compassionate heart and a broad perspective. He left the audience with an inspirational quote: “The Best is Yet to Come,” encouraging a positive outlook and reminding everyone that the future holds potential for greater happiness, success, and fulfillment.
The final speaker of the event was Ms. Jocel Labangco, the Operations Manager for Recruitment and Training at Talent Avenue Ph, Pasig City. Ms. Labangco defined professional development as a process of acquiring new skills, fostering career growth, and self-improvement. She also highlighted the critical role of work-life balance in influencing physical, mental, and emotional well-being, as well as overall performance and motivation. Ms. Labangco concluded her presentation with a quote from Steve Jobs, stating, “The only way to do great work is to love what you do.”
Dr. Gualolarina Fernandez, the Guidance Counselor at Laguna University, delivered an inspirational message to the attendees. The event concluded with closing remarks from the On-the-Job Training (OJT) Coordinator, Ms. Josephine C. Bermudez.
