With the goal of bridging classroom knowledge and real-world applications, first and second year students from the College of Computing Studies (CCS) set foot in the halls of Subic, Zambales in the recently held CCS Company Visit 2025 last November 6, 7, and 17, 2025. Organized by the activity’s chairperson, Mr. Kurt Robin A. San Jose, the event was held under the theme “Insights Today, Innovation of Tomorrow.” The tour provided the students with firsthand insights into the various workplace operations that build the foundation of today’s digital landscapes.
During this one-day trip, students explored various tech-related companies in Subic. Among these companies is the Olongapo City Command and Operations Center (OCCOC) 911. Initially, OCCOC was established on June 1, 2018 and is currently headed by Mayor Atty. Rolen C. Paulino Jr. This department serves as the community’s main center for incident monitoring and emergency response. Alongside this, students were able to visit the Law Enforcement Department (LED) of Subic where they engaged with the unit’s professionals to understand its role in supporting public safety operations through its high-quality surveillance tools.
Another highlight of this visit was the Management Information System (Office) located at the Financial Evaluation Office of Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA). The team discussed how their 911 emergency system remains a functional element in the area for public safety. Meanwhile, the unit also explained how the Disaster Risk Reduction System detects and responds to disaster risk situations. In addition, the participants toured around the area where they witnessed the unit’s technological infrastructure and data management systems.
To further enhance their industry exposure, students were introduced to the history and operations of Harbour Centre Port Terminal Subic, Inc (HCPTSI). After the short briefing and presentation, the team showcased the Subic International Terminal Operations System (SITOS) that mainly utilizes various cyber threats and security measures within its systems. Aside from this, the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) presents its state-of-the-art initiatives, the Vessel Traffic Management System (VTMS). Designed to enhance the efficiency in port operations, the VTMS serves as the key technological asset of Subic Port in strengthening its security and safety.
Significantly, another key company visited during the tour was the leading electronics manufacturing service provider, Wistron Infocomm Philippines, Subic. As part of the initial tour around the company, participants are instructed to wear PPE and anti-static gears to prevent friction from damaging sensitive electronic products inside. Students were guided inside the laboratory where they observed the company’s manufacturing processes including assembly, soldering, glue application, inspection, and testing.
By the evening, the participants went to SM San Fernando, Pampanga where they had a filling dinner buffet at Vikings. Some students headed to Sky Ranch, Pampanga for their leisure activities before heading home.
Overall, the CCS Company Visit 2025 served as a bridge to connect the students to the technology field and become an industry-ready individual. This event marked a remarkable journey where participants gained knowledge and experiences that provided a clearer understanding of how various industry operations work.
