LU BSIT Students Deploy Document Management System at Protech Corporation

CAVITE — Selected fourth-year BS Information Technology students with specialization in System Development from Laguna University successfully deployed their capstone project titled “Protech Construction & Development Corporation Document Management System (DMS)” at Protech Corporation, Brgy. Silang, Cavite, on October 4, 2025.

The project team, composed of Jireh Fei San Juan, Ranielle Anthony Luistro, John Henry Barba, and Mark Joseph Elazegui, worked under the guidance of Mr. John Wilson O. Relova, with the support of CCS Research Coordinator Kurt Robin A. San Jose, College of Computing Studies Acting Dean Ms. Joselle A. Banocnoc, and BSIT Program Chair Ms. Chrisna L. Fucio.

The research aimed to improve Protech’s manual and redundant document filing processes by introducing a digital management system that enables authorized users to upload, retrieve, comment on, and track project documents efficiently. The DMS features an organized workflow, version control, and role-based permissions to ensure accuracy and accountability in document handling.

Through the system, Protech personnel can now streamline document retrieval, minimize version conflicts, and enhance compliance through improved audit trails. The system also promotes faster coordination among the Engineering, IT, and HR departments, contributing to increased productivity and operational efficiency.

During the presentation and deployment, Ms. Maria Geneva R. Fucio, Protech’s Document Custodian, along with selected department heads, commended the team for delivering a system that addresses the company’s documentation needs. Recommendations for future development included adding mobile access for field engineers and enhancing data encryption for sensitive records.

The deployment concluded with positive feedback, highlighting the potential of academic research to provide innovative and practical solutions to real-world industry challenges.
