CBAA RSOs Spearhead Tax Education Convention at Laguna University

The College of Business, Administration, and Accountancy (CBAA) of Laguna University held a tax convention titled “Tax is Where? Tax is Everywhere” on February 4 at the Laguna Sports Complex Gymnasium. The event aimed to enhance students’ understanding of taxation, its processes, and its impact on society.

Organized by the Recognized Student Organizations (RSOs) under CBAA, the event featured Mr. John Kristofer Almontero, CPA, a 2022 alumnus, as the guest speaker. Almontero delivered an in-depth lecture covering the different types of taxes, their role in funding government programs, and their contribution to national and community development.

Prefect of Student Activities Ms. Florencia S. Miñas praised the efforts of the student organizations involved, which included the Laguna University – Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants (LU-JPIA), Laguna University – Accounting Information System Society (LU-AISSoc), Laguna University – Young Entrepreneurs Society (LU-YES), and the Union of Laguna University Tourism Associates (ULUTA).

“Ang RSO ng CBAA ay napakaganda at napakagaling sa pagbubuo ng mga gan’tong klase ng event,” said Miñas.

The afternoon session featured interactive booth activities. LU-JPIA facilitated a workshop on Value-Added Tax (VAT), LU-AISSoc answered tax-related questions with support from former president Jan Paulo Calica, ULUTA conducted a game booth focused on tax facts, and LU-YES, led by former president Ana Jamela Magsino, tackled product pricing and costing.

The convention was attended by 1,301 students and served as a platform for promoting tax literacy and financial awareness, equipping participants with essential knowledge for their academic and professional growth.
