Centering on examining how Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) can navigate supply chains, expand distribution, and enter new markets, the UP Society of Management and Economics Students (UP SMES) brought together the future young Filipino entrepreneurs across the country in a two-day event.
“I know how to talk to people. I know how to talk to clients, so ‘yon ‘yung naging puhunan ko,” Mx. Gian Dizon, Founder and CEO of Nayik Inc., stated during the Forum as he elaborated being passionate and goal-centered, and knowing the possible audience is important in terms of building a business, especially when facing key issues in the field of SMES in the Philippines.
Mr. Benedict C. Monsanto, YES Vice President for External Affairs, shared that one of the characteristics of being an entrepreneur he learned during the Skill Building Activity is that being realistic is important in terms of making decisions, just like in creating a business plan.
“Mahalaga ang communication for entrepreneur students because [it] enables [us] to convey [our] innovative ideas, negotiate with investors, build strong teams, and ultimately, drive business success,” Ms. Lhexie L. Manalo, YES 4th Year Representative, uttered her learning during the Networking Activity.
Moreover, Mr. Edson Ryan Torres, Mr. Joshua Fernandez, Mr. Ahlyson Reynoso, and Mr. Clarence Mapalad joined for Advertisement Video, while Ms. Jannalee Ignacio and Mr. Lawrence Nesperos took part in Extemporaneous Speech, and Mr. Jose Antonio Baldemor and Ms. Marian Pandalag engaged in Quiz Bee.
“Being an entrepreneur student was a great privilege, but being able to speak [about] what I am learning is another milestone for me. That’s why, if I am going to compete again, my next strategy [is] to give my all and to make my speaking skills better to provide more [information] about my topic,” Ms. Jannalee Ignacio, Extemporaneous Speech participant, expressed.
This year’s UP SMES Entrelympics 2025 were participated in by 18 Universities and High Schools, including the Laguna University, in the presence of the chosen BSEntrep students, while some of the top campuses that brought victories are from National University – MOA, Caraga State University, and Tarlac State University.
