LU’s 4th Research Colloquium: Fostering Excellence & Innovation!

The Laguna University Research and Development Center (LU-RDC) remains steadfast in its commitment to strengthening the research culture within the institution. On June 30, 2025, LU-RDC successfully conducted its 4th Faculty and Non-Teaching Staff Research Colloquium, with the theme “Advancing Academic Excellence: Collaboration, Technology, and Well-being in the Modern Campus,”

The virtual event, hosted on Zoom Conference, united deans, program chairs, faculty, research coordinators, and non-teaching personnel to share innovative research and stimulate scholarly initiatives of their College/office. Professionally handled by Mr. Marvin Francia, the colloquium was formally introduced by Dr. Marie Joy Q. Elomina, Director of RDC, who stressed LU’s commitment to research-based development. This was followed by a message from Dr. Marlon L. Atanacio, Vice-President for Academic Affairs, stressing the university’s strategic directions in research and innovation, and later by Mr. Samuel Nikkolei C. Reodica’s statement of purpose concentrating on the role of the colloquium in a vibrant research culture.

At the top of the list was the motivating speech by Mr. Richard Lazaro that foretold research’s contribution to institutional development and academic advancement. A total of nine presenters from teaching and non-teaching departments presented their findings, which generated interesting discussions from the Panel of Reactors: Prof. Katrina Anne E. Blanco (UPLB), Ms. Gloria De Guzman (UPLB), and Dr. Francis Balahadia (LSPU-Siniloan Campus).

Laguna University proudly recognized significant contributions during the event. In the Teaching Category, the Best Research Paper Award was presented to Dr. Roberto R. Dionisio, while the Best Research Presentation was awarded to Dr. Rosalie D. Buban, Dr. Olga J. Domingo, Mr. Jomarie T. Suamen, and Mr. John Paul D. Pelojero. In the Non-Teaching Category, Dr. Marie Joy Q. Elomina, Dr. Monetto O. Bato, and Engr. Paul Gerard R. Lasangre-Cruz received both the Best Research Paper and Best Research Presentation awards. These are truly examples of passion and creativity in addressing real-world problems through research.

The seminar ended with an inspiring message from Ms. Joselle Banocnoc, Program Chair of BS Computer Science, who expressed her appreciation to all presenters and organizers and urged everyone to further uphold the virtue of research.

This event stands as a testament to LU’s commitment to fostering a strong research culture. Congratulations to all the speakers, winners, and organizers—your work has truly been an inspiration to everyone at LU
