Program HOPE: Hydroponics System and Greenhouse Project

The Laguna University-Community Extension Services Unit, in collaboration with the Laguna University-College of Education, proudly launched the Program HOPE—Hydroponics System and Greenhouse Project. This initiative aims to implement innovative hydroponic farming techniques to tackle the challenges faced by traditional soil-based agriculture, harnessing the benefits of sustainable practices.

The ceremony began with heartfelt remarks from Mr. Josue Manglangit, President of Raymer’s House Owner Association. He expressed profound gratitude for the opportunities Laguna University has provided to the residents, particularly in literacy and livelihood programs. His appreciation underscored the longstanding partnership between the university and the community, emphasizing the positive impact of future initiatives.

Dr. Rosemarie Sabado, the Vice President for Academic Affairs and the Dean of College of Education, delivered an inspiring message highlighting the university’s commitment to the residents of Raymer Village. She shared three key values that Laguna University aims to offer:

1. Pananampalataya (Faith): Fostering belief in the potential for growth and improvement through education.

2. Pag-asa (Hope): Instilling optimism for a brighter future through sustainable practices.

3. Pag-ibig (Love): Encouraging community bonds and support, reinforcing collective strength.

Ms. Leah E. Perez , CES Coordinator and BSED Program Chair, conducted an orientation for the residents, introducing the various programs and projects designed to support the community. Student coordinators also presented details about their respective initiatives, emphasizing collaboration and engagement.

The highlight of the event was the symbolic ribbon-cutting by Dr. Rosemarie D. Sabado and Mr. Josue Manglangit, officially inaugurating the hydroponics project. This moment marked a significant step forward in promoting innovative agriculture within the community.

Ms. Joselle A. Banocnoc Director of the Community Extension Services Unit, concluded the ceremony by expressing her gratitude and highlighting Laguna University’s commitment to supporting those in need. Her message resonated with the audience, reinforcing the spirit of collaboration and community upliftment.
