In response to the growing need for multimedia skills, the recent Multimedia Skills Enhancement Seimar-Workshop held last September 29, 2023 at Laguna University proved to be a transformative experience for faculty members from the College of Arts and Sciences and College of Health Sciences. The goal of this seminar-workshop was to enhance the faculty’s digital skills and knowledge that they can apply to their teaching strategies.
The Multimedia Skills Enhancement Seminar-Workshop commenced with an opening remark from Dr. Rosalie D. Buban, Dean of the College of Arts and Science and College of Health Sciences. It was followed by the discussion led by Dr. Olga J. Domingo, Program Chair of Bachelor of Arts in Communication (BA Comm), about the basic concepts of multimedia, as well as its importance and benefits. Subsequently, Ms. Gloria C. Obiniana, from BA Comm, led a fun and informative workshop on how to use Canva, a digital tool that educators can use in their classrooms to enhance student learning. To end the morning session, Ms. Sofia Marie H. Guintu, also from BA Comm, delivered an insightful workshop on how to utilize Capcut, a video editing platform, to create educational videos. The participants were guided through the intricate process on how to use these platforms in order to create engaging and creative presentations and videos.
As the program continued during the afternoon session, Mr. Roel L. Fucio of the General Education (GenEd) Department shared his knowledge on how to navigate iLearnU, the official learning management system of the Laguna University which is used both by the students and faculty members as well. This was followed by a short demonstration on its key functions and features. And lastly, Mr. Raymond Wally M. Pabalan also from the GenEd Department shared a detailed and research-based presentation about how we can best utilize the Microsoft PowerPoint to create fun and engaging PowerPoint presentations.
The event was concluded with a closing remark from Dr. Domingo who extended her gratitude to the dedicated participants who contributed to the workshop’s success.
This seminar-workshop has proven to be a catalyst for creative growth and digital innovation. Attendees departed with enhanced multimedia skills, a network of like-minded individuals and a renewed passion for visual storytelling.
