SPORTS NEWS | CCS Women’s Volleyball Team Battles with Grit in 2025 LU Sportsfest

The College of Computing Studies (CCS) Women’s Volleyball Team faced two intense matches during the 2025 Laguna University Sportsfest, held at the University Multi-Purpose Gymnasium on February 10–11.

First Match: CCS vs. CBAA

CCS opened their campaign against the College of Business Administration and Accountancy (CBAA) on February 10 at 2:30 PM. Despite starting with momentum and energy, the Maroon Spikers struggled to maintain control as CBAA launched an aggressive offensive. Defensive efforts from Chavez provided brief highlights, but CCS was unable to close the gap, dropping the first set, 11–25.

The second set saw CCS adjust with a more defensive strategy, but CBAA maintained dominance throughout. Despite resilient efforts, CCS fell short, conceding the match in straight sets.

Second Match: CCS vs. CAS

On February 11 at 9:00 AM, CCS returned to the court to face the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) under rainy weather conditions. The team surged ahead early in the first set, building a five-point lead, but CAS capitalized on CCS errors and gradually shifted momentum. CAS took the set after a tight back-and-forth battle.

The second set saw both teams locked in a close match, exchanging powerful spikes and rallies. CAS eventually pulled ahead with critical service plays and secured the match.

Despite back-to-back losses, CCS players displayed resilience and determination throughout both games. Team member Atentar reflected on their performance, saying, “Talo man kami, at least ginawa namin lahat ng best namin. Thank you sa support ng buong teammates and coaches. Babawi kami next year!”

The CCS Women’s Volleyball Team exits the 2025 Sportsfest with pride and a renewed drive to improve. With lessons learned and strong team spirit, they aim for a stronger comeback next year.
