LAGUNA – On January 15, 2025 Laguna University (LU) has formalized a partnership with Asian Transmission Corporation (ATC) through the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) aimed at providing On-the-Job Training (OJT) and internship opportunities for Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) students. It was attended by Laguna University representatives – Dr. Monette O. Bato (University President), Dr. Rosemarie D. Sabado (Vice President for Academic Affairs), Engr. Paul Gerard R. Lasangre Cruz (Assistant Vice President for Administration and Dean of the College of Engineering), Ms. Jenneth R. Mondez (Director of the Quality Management Office), and Engr. William L. Ferma Jr. (BSME Program Internship Coordinator), as well as representatives of ATC – Mr. Katsuhito Noda (President and CEO), Atty. Rose Lynn Zara-Coloma (Vice President for Corporate Division), and Mr. Jose Romen H. Gualberto (Vice President for Manufacturing 2).

The Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) will establish a framework for a mutually advantageous partnership between Laguna University and Asian Transmission Corporation. It exemplifies the dedication of both institutions to help bridge the gap between theory and practice of mechanical engineering, through practical experience and developing abilities that are especially important in today’s competitive job market.

Two BSME students in their 4th year – Mr. Emmanuel M. Macaalay and Mr. Joshua D. Billones – were chosen for the internship program with ATC. Through internship, these students will gain valuable insight into the workings of a top manufacturing corporation. They will have the opportunity to engage with seasoned experts and participate in actual projects in a dynamic work environment. It is anticipated that this experience will improve students’ comprehension of engineering concepts and increase their employability after graduation. In addition, they will be receiving an allowance and subsidy from ATC to aid in their internship needs.

The MOA signing marks the beginning of a partnership that promises to foster innovation and knowledge transfer between the academe and the industry. Both institutions are committed to review the agreement regularly to ensure that it meets the evolving needs of students, according to industry standards.

The MOA with Asian Transmission Corporation is a manifestation of Laguna University’s commitment to empowering students and a testament to the University’s dedication to empowering students and improving the University’s educational environment as they continue to create programs that combine classroom instruction with real-world experience.
