Calamba City, September 13, 2023 – Laguna University participated in the Midyear Assessment of the Laguna Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation Office (LCCAMO), collaborating with the Placement, Alumni and Linkages Office (PALO) and the Community Extension Services Unit (CESU), College of Education and Bachelor of Science in Entrepreneurship Department. The event took place at Angelitos Resort, Calamba City.
Mr. Tony Alvaran, Director, PALO, was a featured speaker at the event. He delivered a comprehensive presentation on the fundamentals of Hydroponics Vegetable Production, covering various systems and techniques associated with this innovative farming method. Alvaran also highlighted the advantages and disadvantages of Hydroponics.
Meanwhile, Ms. Leah E. Perez, Program Chair of BSED and Community Extension Coordinator at the College of Education, shared insights as a speaker. She emphasized the importance of Hydroponics Farming in the context of environmental sustainability and its potential to address future food demands. Perez also discussed how communities could benefit from Hydroponics as a viable livelihood program.
LU Community Extension Services Unit (CESU) expressed its commitment to broadening its reach and impact through various humanitarian services and activities. During the seminar, selected students from the Bachelor of Science in Entrepreneurship program presented their thesis project on Hydroponics Farming. They provided practical kits and demonstrated their use to participants.
The event was attended by representatives from cities and municipalities within the Province of Laguna. LCCAMO spearheaded this initiative with the primary objective of equipping participants with the knowledge and skills required to address climate change mitigation effectively.
