Laguna University is poised to enhance its academic standing as it undergoes the accreditation process, aiming for higher recognition, particularly Level 3 status. If achieved, this would make it the first Local University in the South to attain this milestone. Four programs are vying for Level 3 accreditation: the Bachelor of Elementary Education, Bachelor of Secondary Education (BSEd) major in Mathematics, BSEd major in English from the College of Education, and the Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (BSIT) from the College of Computing Studies.
Additionally, the BS in Entrepreneurship and BS in Accountancy programs from the College of Business, Administration, and Accountancy, along with the BA in Communication program from the College of Arts and Sciences, are seeking Level 2 accreditation. Meanwhile, the BS in Computer Science program is pursuing Level 1 accreditation.
The three-day accreditation event commenced today, November 27, and will run until November 29. The opening ceremony provided an introduction and background for the accreditors from the Association of Local Colleges and Universities Commission on Accreditation (ALCUCOA), who will evaluate the programs seeking accreditation.
OIC-University President Dr. Monette O. Bato expressed optimism about the evaluation process, saying, “As we embark on this journey together, let us approach it with a spirit of transparency, collaboration, and open dialogue.”
Ms. Jenneth R. Mondez, Director of the Quality Management Office, introduced the Institutional Area Coordinators, who successfully submitted their documents for evaluation.
Dr. Raymundo P. Arcega, ALCUCOA President and OIC-President of Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Muntinlupa, underscored the purpose of accreditation. He emphasized that the process is not merely about achieving a higher academic level but about upholding quality education for students. “This celebration is not about the management. They invited all of you to impress upon you that education is the only social mechanism for you to climb the ladder of mobility,” he noted.
“The day you submit yourself to accreditation, you already won,” Dr. Arcega added.
Dr. Rosemarie D. Sabado, Vice President for Academic Affairs, expressed her gratitude to the students, faculty, and accreditors. “I extend my heartfelt thanks to my Laguna University family for your unwavering dedication to quality service and education. I am so proud of how you tirelessly worked not only for this accreditation visit but also for consistently creating a dynamic, inclusive, and enriching learning environment,” she said.
“To my fellow ALCUCOA accreditors, I am so elated, mga kapatid, as I fondly call you, and I feel so honored to have you all in our university,” she added. In the coming days, the accreditation process will include community extension project visits, stakeholder conferences, and class observations, providing a comprehensive evaluation of the university’s programs and services.
