LU ComSci Department Elects New Officers

Laguna University’s Computer Science Department conducted an online election to select a new set of officers for Academic Year 2022-2023. The election, held on May 10, 2023, saw active participation from 177 out of 214 participants.

The election featured two competing parties, each vying to serve the department to the best of their abilities. The Tindig Party campaigned with the slogan “Tenacious Individuals kNowing Discipline, Innovation, and Greatness,” while the Labis Party presented their slogan as “Leaders that Act for the Betterment of the Institution’s Service.”

In a resounding victory, Erika Carpio of the Tindig Party emerged as the winner of the presidential position, securing an impressive 71.19% of the votes. Carpio’s campaign focused on bringing discipline, innovation, and greatness to the department. Her election reflects the trust and support she garnered from the participants.

Joining Erika Carpio as winners from the Tindig Party are Eunice Ann Managat for VP Planning, Chester Miranda for VP Operations, Reijean Mastrili for General Secretary, Missy Jane Ledesma for Deputy Secretary, and Keiden Velasco for Treasurer. These individuals were chosen by the electorate to hold key positions within the department, emphasizing the party’s commitment to various aspects of its functioning.

The Labis Party, although not victorious in the presidential race, secured notable positions. Joanha Violanta emerged as the winner for the position of Auditor, while Catherine Simbajon, Rodgil Mark Alcantara, and Joshua Dela Rueda were elected as the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th-year representatives, respectively. These individuals will play an essential role in representing the interests of their respective academic years.

The online election showcased the engagement and active participation of the Computer Science Department. With the newly elected officers at the helm, the department anticipates a year filled with innovation, effective planning, and continuous improvement in its services.
