Laguna University College of Education (COED) successfully hosted its highly anticipated Third Annual Entrepreneurial activity on May 18, 2023. Themed “Entrepreneurship: An Essential Skill for Life,” the event took place at the back of the university’s New Building, providing a vibrant platform for students to showcase their entrepreneurial prowess.
The objectives of the event were multifaceted. Firstly, it aimed to enhance the entrepreneurial skills of the Bachelor of Elementary Education (BEED) students, equipping them with practical knowledge and experience that would benefit them in their future careers as educators. The COED recognized the importance of providing a holistic education that extends beyond the classroom, producing graduates who are well-equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to excel in their roles as educators within the classroom, community, society, and the state.
Additionally, the activity aimed to foster a sense of camaraderie among the students. It encouraged teamwork, cooperation, and collaboration as students embarked on their entrepreneurial endeavors.
The event featured second and third-year BEED students who demonstrated their innovative minds by setting up their own food stalls and offering a variety of unique products to eager customers. Adding to the festive atmosphere, a videoke booth and photo booth were set up in NB 104, where participants could enjoy singing their favorite songs for a nominal fee of five pesos per song and capture cherished memories of the event.
Miss Marjorie P. Dionisio and Miss Kimberly Elbo, officers of the COED ACE Organization, spearheaded a brief program that culminated in a ribbon-cutting ceremony led by Dr. Rosemarie D. Sabado, the Vice President of Academic Affairs. This ceremonial act officially inaugurated the booths and food stands, marking the beginning of an exciting day filled with entrepreneurial endeavors.
The entrepreneurial activity provided aspiring educators with a valuable opportunity to cultivate essential skills such as adaptability, persistence, and hard work—qualities that are integral to successful young entrepreneurs. By participating in this event, students were able to enrich these skills, which will undoubtedly benefit their professional and personal lives moving forward.
The COED’s commitment to nurturing the entrepreneurial spirit among future educators not only empowers students but also highlights the importance of equipping them with practical skills beyond their academic pursuits. Through initiatives like this, Laguna University continues to inspire its students to embrace entrepreneurship and develop a well-rounded skill set that will propel them to success in various facets of life.
