The College of Education conducted a Pre-Deployment Orientation and Learning Session for fourth year student-interns on August 18, 2023. The event took place at the Audio Visual Room, RHL Building, aiming to equip students with the necessary knowledge, skills, and mindset required to effectively navigate the challenges of their impending deployment.
The program commenced with a prayer, followed by the rendition of the National Anthem and the Laguna University Hymn. Mr. Carlo H. Joquino, Chairperson of Experiential Learning Courses (ELC), extended a warm welcome to the participants and underscored the importance and crucial role of the orientation and learning session.
Mr. Tony Angelo C. Alvaran, Director, Placement, Alumni, and Linkages Office (PALO), Laguna University, initiated the discussion by providing insights about the Internship Program. He covered policies, guidelines, and necessary forms that student interns must adhere to both before and after their actual deployment.
Following Mr. Alvaran’s presentation, Ms. Mariemer Joy A. Medina, Teacher III at Southville IV Elementary School, discussed the practical aspects of preparing for deployment. She emphasized the profound meaning of the term “teacher” and offered valuable tips for those embarking on their early teaching careers. She encouraged students with the phrase, “Malayo pa, pero malayo na and choose JOY,” emphasizing the journey ahead.
Lastly, Mr. Rinielle C. Montana, a Master Teacher at Nanhaya National High School, shared his personal journey from being a student to becoming a practice teacher at Laguna University, eventually achieving the status of a master teacher in the Department of Education. He provided practical advice and stressed the importance of merging theoretical knowledge with hands-on experience during deployment.
The program concluded with closing remarks delivered by the OJT Coordinator, Ms. Josephine C. Bermudez, followed by the singing of the College of Education Hymn.
