LU – COED Advances Teacher Education Excellence Through Re-Echo Seminar on Reframed Curriculum

On October 30, 2025, the Laguna University College of Education held conducted a Re-Echo Seminar on the Reframed Pre-Service Teacher Education Curriculum at the University Library in an effort to. prepare the faculty members for the implementation of the reframed curriculum this Academic Year 2026-2027. The activity aimed to cascade updates and deepen understanding of the newly reframed curriculum which was spearheaded by the Teacher Education Council (TEC) in partnership with the Department of Education (DepEd) and in collaboration with the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) and Research Institute for Teacher Quality (RITQ).

The seminar started with an opening remark by Dr. Rosalie D. Buban, the dean of the College of Education. She stressed the significance of curricular reform in improving teacher preparation and education. In order to adapt to the changing nature of education, she said that “Reframing the pre-service teacher education curriculum is not a want, but a need.”

Dr. Marlon L. Atanacio, Vice President for Academic Affairs gave his cordial greetings and commended the college for conducting such an important and timely seminar. He further lauded the college for its proactive initiative in fostering awareness and readiness among faculty members as they transition to the reframed pre-service teacher education curriculum.

In his inspirational message, Dr. Charlemagne G. Laviña, University President, described the re-echo seminar as more than just a sharing of updates; it is a renewal of our calling as educators.” Dr. Laviña considered the deeper meaning of teaching and cited Psalm 139:10: “Even there Your hand will guide me, Your right hand will hold me fast.” He stated that the verse beautifully captures what it means to be a teacher and added that teachers are gentle force that shows students direction when they are uncertain, much like God’s guiding hand.

Before the series of topics were presented, Dr. Buban discussed the mandate of TEC based on the Republic Act 11713, who the members of the council are, what they are doing, and what are their deliverables.

Mr. Ronnel C. Palasin, BSEd Instructor, kicked off the discussions with “Unpacking and Contextualizing the Reframed Professional Education Curriculum. Ms. Rose Nannette J. San Juan, also a BSEd Instructor, followed with “The Science of Learning.”

Dr. Buban then discussed the topic “Integrating EL in Instruction” which was prepared by Mr. Glenn Kenneth Z. Valerozo, a BPEd instrucotr.   Technological, pedagogigal, content, knowledge, innovation and inclusivity in teaching were given emphasis. Ms. Sweetsell D. Texon, BEEd Program Coordinator, presented the “Compendium of Syllabus Guides for Reframed Professional Education Courses” and later discussed the “BEED Specialization.”

Ms. Leah E. Perez, BSEd Program Chair, concluded the technical sessions with her presentations on “BPEd Specialization” and “BSEd Specialization.”

Dr. Josephine C. Bermudez, a BEEd Professor, delivered the seminar’s Takeaways and Closing Remarks, praising presenters for their clarity. She also applauded Dean Buban for spearheading the conduct of the re-echo seminar, recognizing her vision and leadership in guiding the college through this academic shift.

The Re-echo Seminar reaffirmed Laguna University’s commitment to continuously produce competent, compassionate, and globally responsive educators through curriculum advancement and reflective practice.
