LU-CCS Stands Out: Web Design 1st Runner-up, IT Quiz Top 10

In a thrilling display of technological prowess, the Laguna University College of Computer Studies (LU-CCS) enthusiastically participated in the 12th IT Skills Olympics held at the University of Makati on November 24, 2023. This prestigious event brought together 54 universities in a spirited competition, embodying the cutting-edge skills of the next generation of IT innovators. The overarching theme, “The IT Innovators Gauntlet: Forging Ahead the Future of Technology,” set the stage for a day filled with intellect, skill, and innovation.

Guiding the participants and attendees through the day’s events was the adept master of ceremonies, Mr. Wilber B. Sabado. The opening program was a symphony of cultural and national pride, featuring a doxology, the singing of the National Anthem, the Makati hymn, and the UMAK hymn. Mr. Allan August P. Malig, Chief Technology Officer of Networld Capital Ventures Inc., delivered the opening remarks, while Prof. Joel B. Mangaba, Dean of the College of Computing and Information Sciences at the University of Makati, shared a compelling message, underscoring challenge, character, and community as pivotal aspects of readiness in the IT industry.

The energetic intermission number by the University of Makati Chorale marked the transition to the main event. Mr. Ali A. Naim, Chairman of the 12th  IT Olympics 2023, introduced the judges, sponsors, and participating schools for each category. A captivating video presentation showcased the participating universities, building anticipation and excitement for the challenges that lay ahead.

Running from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., the event featured an array of categories, each testing the participants’ abilities in various facets of information technology, covering the entire spectrum of IT expertise.

In the Webpage Design competition, LU-CCS’ Jim Dominic Pabalate emerged as the 1st Runner-up, showcasing exceptional expertise and creativity under the guidance of Coach Ms. Patrecia Toledo.

Guided by the mentorship of Coach Ms. Abigail Hernandez, Rouin Vallejo’s outstanding performance in the IT Quiz Bee landed him among the Top 10 Finalists.

Their remarkable display of talent and expertise across a diverse range of categories highlighted the university’s success in the 12th IT Skills Olympics. The event not only celebrated achievements but also highlighted the dynamic approach of the College of Computing Studies in preparing students for the evolving landscape of Information Technology.
