The Laguna University – Young Entrepreneurs Society (LU-YES) officially welcomed Bachelor of Science in Entrepreneurship (BSEntrep) students during its 2024 Re-orientation Program held on August 29 at the Laguna Sports Complex Gymnasium. The event featured faculty introductions, program discussions, student recognition, and creative competitions.
The event began with an opening message from Dr. Alex Macario C. Cecilio, Dean of the College of Business, Administration, and Accountancy and OIC-Vice President for Administration, who reminded students to value the opportunity to complete their degree and focus on their academic goals. He also led the introduction of CBAA faculty members and presided over the oath-taking and pinning ceremony of the new LU-YES student officers.
Ms. Florencia S. Miñas of the Office of Student Affairs and Services (OSAS) delivered a message emphasizing the importance of holistic development. Following her message, Ms. Katrina Clare M. Labios, BSEntrep Program Coordinator, gave an overview of the program’s structure and expectations.
LU-YES President Ms. Mhelineth O. Rebong presented the accomplishments of the organization, outlining both past achievements and current plans. A briefing on the LU-YES Constitution and By-Laws was conducted, covering topics such as membership qualifications and organizational policies. Mr. Anthony C. Carcusia shared a motivational talk titled “Kwentong Entrep”, encouraging students to embrace pauses in life while continuing to move forward.
In the afternoon, students showcased their talents in a yell and performance competition, representing their respective year-level blocks through dance, song, spoken word, and other creative forms.
Special and major awards were presented to outstanding blocks:
- Most Cooperative Block: BSEntrep 2C
- Best in Yell: BSEntrep 2A
- Most Creative Block: BSEntrep 1A
- Most Attentive Block Officer: Mr. Mario T. Silones Jr.
- Entrep Galing! Major Awards:
– 2nd Place: BSEntrep 3A
– 1st Place: BSEntrep 4A
– Champion: BSEntrep 4B
Concluding the event, Ms. Rebong thanked the students for their active participation, stating, “Salamat, dahil sa sipag ninyong lahat, hindi ko naramdaman na mag-isa akong bumubuhat sa mahigit walong daang estudyante ng BSEntrep Department.”
The re-orientation gathered 737 attendees, reaffirming the department’s commitment to building a united and purpose-driven student community.
