The Laguna University Accounting Information System Society (LU-AISSoc) held its annual General Assembly and Program Re-orientation on August 28, 2024, at the Laguna Sports Complex Gymnasium, with the theme “Paglalayag sa Alon ng Kaalaman: Isang Makulay na Paglalakbay Kasama ang LU-AISSoc.”
The event aimed to reorient Bachelor of Science in Accounting Information System (BSAIS) students on program policies, organizational activities, and expectations for the academic year. It opened with a prayer, national anthem, and LU Hymn, followed by welcome remarks from Dr. Alex Macario C. Cecilio, OIC-Vice President for Administration and Dean of the College of Business, Administration, and Accountancy. Dr. Cecilio also led the oathtaking ceremony of the newly elected LU-AISSoc officers, formally introduced by LU-AISSoc President Julius Rodriguez.
The program’s main reorientation was conducted by Ms. Marian G. Magcalas, CPA, MBA, LU-AISSoc Adviser and BSAIS Program Coordinator. She discussed program guidelines, student responsibilities, and upcoming activities for the academic year.
Adding entertainment to the event were musical performances by John David Saballa, Gian Deuz De Lima, and Sheneryne Adarve from the LU Music and Bands Society (LU-MABS). The assembly also featured intermission numbers from the Tourism Management Performing Squad (TPS) and a talent showcase from AIS students representing their respective year-level blocks.
Former LU-AISSoc President Jan Paulo Calica gave a short talk reflecting on the organization’s previous accomplishments and challenges. Annual plans were then presented by LU-AISSoc Vice Presidents: James Patrick Sison (Academics) and Van Marco Boloron (Non-Academics).
The event reinforced the organization’s commitment to guiding AIS students in their academic journey.
