LU-AISSoc Holds Academic Seminar on Accounting and IT Integration

Laguna University Accounting Information System Society (LU-AISSoc) hosted an academic seminar titled “Treasure Cruising – Future Uploads: Deep-diving into the Sea of Knowledge” on October 10 at the Audiovisual Room, aiming to strengthen students’ understanding of the integration between accounting and information technology.

The event was formally opened by Dr. Alex Macario C. Cecilio, Dean of the College of Business, Administration, and Accountancy and Vice President for Administration, who emphasized the value of listening and learning. “Whenever somebody is talking, whenever somebody is explaining, it is your chance to hear,” Dr. Cecilio said, urging students to seize every opportunity to acquire knowledge.

The seminar was divided into two sessions. The first session, intended for freshmen and sophomores, focused on the application of accounting in information technology. It was facilitated by Ms. Rebecca B. Pablo, who introduced participants to how both disciplines can complement each other in practice.

Meanwhile, the second session catered to juniors and seniors and featured a hands-on workshop on web design led by Mr. Kim David C. Ritardo. The session aimed to enhance students’ technical skills, particularly in creating digital platforms relevant to accounting functions.

The seminar highlighted the increasing demand for professionals skilled in both accounting and IT, reflecting current industry trends. Referencing research by Imene F. and Imhanzenobe J., the speakers noted that “the emergence of sophisticated IT tools has enabled accountants to prepare and present financial statements more accurately and efficiently.”

The event concluded with a call to students to continue expanding their knowledge in both fields, acknowledging the growing relevance of multidisciplinary skills in today’s evolving job market.by:
