Laguna University Tourism Students Open Academic Year with BSTM Fiesta 2025

The Union of the Laguna University Tourism Associates (ULUTA) formally opened the academic year with its General Assembly, “BSTM Fiesta 2025: Isang Pagsalubong, Isang Samahan – Turismo’y Pagyamanin,” on August 28, 2025, at the Laguna Sports Complex Gymnasium.

More than 700 Tourism Management students attended the event, which highlighted Filipino culture and unity. Participants wore traditional attire such as barongs and Filipinianas inspired by Maria Clara and Ibarra, reflecting both heritage and the excitement of a new academic year.

ULUTA Adviser Jo Marykryse Angeles welcomed the students, especially first-year enrollees, and encouraged them to take advantage of the opportunities offered by Laguna University. She emphasized that the institution provides quality yet affordable education for aspiring tourism professionals.

Program Coordinator Christine Cecille O. Fermin-Raby said tourism education at Laguna University goes beyond hospitality and travel. She explained that the program also promotes community development, sustainable practices, and cultural appreciation—at a cost that remains accessible to families.

The event included organizational updates such as the review of ULUTA’s bylaws and the introduction of new officers. Acting CBAA Dean Katrina Clare M. Labios urged students to cultivate discipline and resilience, noting that careers in tourism include event management, cultural heritage promotion, entrepreneurship, and community-based tourism.

Performances from the Laguna University Music and Band Society and the Tourism Performing Squad added color to the program. Another highlight was “BSTM Got Talent 2025,” which showcased the students’ creativity and artistry.

ULUTA President Emerson E. Eulin closed the program by thanking participants and reaffirming the organization’s commitment to fostering an inclusive and united tourism student community.

The BSTM Fiesta 2025 marked the start of the academic year by celebrating Filipino culture while underscoring Laguna University’s mission to provide accessible and excellent education that prepares students for global opportunities in tourism.
