Laguna University Set for ALCUCOA Evaluation in Accreditation Bid

Laguna University commenced its accreditation process on December 11 at the Athletes’ Village Building, marking a significant stride towards enhancing the quality of education it provides. Dr. Colegio S. Gascon, the OIC President of Laguna University, alongside with the university officials, faculty members, and students, welcomed the accreditors from the Association of Local College Universities Commission on Accreditation (ALCUCOA) during the opening ceremony.

A thorough evaluation is scheduled for five key programs offered by the university: Bachelor of Secondary Education-Major in Science, Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management, Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Bachelor of Science in Accounting Information System, and Bachelor of Science in Computer Science.

Dr. Gascon emphasized the university’s approach, stating, “We should LOVE—where ‘L’ stands for a long-lasting commitment, ‘O’ for overcoming challenges, ‘V’ for valuing work, and ‘E’ for entrustment.” This sentiment underscores their commitment to the external review process aimed at fostering improvement.

Ms. Jenneth R. Mondez, Director, Quality Management Office, introduced the LU Officials and the LU Accreditation Team.

Hon. Ramil L. Hernandez, the Provincial Governor of Laguna and LU Chairman of the Board of Regents, extended a warm welcome to ALCUCOA officials. He highlighted the growing number of scholars within the province of Laguna and at Laguna University.

Dr. Armando T. Laguimun, Supervising Accreditor, encapsulated the essence of accreditation, stressing its significance not only for institutions but as a broader philosophy for life, citing, “Light of the world in providing quality for life.” The accreditation process is scheduled for three days, commencing on Monday, and concluding on Wednesday, December 13, 2023.
