LAGUNA UNIVERSITY SECURES DOST GRANT FOR AGRICULTURE INITIATIVE

Laguna University to Inspire Next Generation of Farmers & Innovators!

Laguna University (LU) is honored to formally announce that its collaborative research proposal has been approved for a grant by the Department of Science and Technology (DOST). This significant achievement is the result of a concerted effort between the LU Research and Development Center (RDC) and the College of Education (COED).

The approved proposal, titled “Reframing Agriculture as an Exciting and Viable Career Path for the Youth: Exposure and Orientation Activities for Selected Grade 6, 9, and 10 Students in Laguna,” was successfully presented to the DOST Director’s Council on November 4, 2025.

Project Rationale: The core objective of this initiative is to cultivate interest among young students in Grades 6, 9, and 10 in pursuing careers in agriculture. It will provide targeted exposure activities and educational orientations designed to reframe agriculture as an innovative, technological, and sustainable field of study, thereby addressing the critical issue of declining youth engagement in the sector.

Recognition of Excellence: The presentation was  led by Dr. Marie Joy Q. Elomina, Director of the RDC, who provided a thorough outline of the project’s rationale, methodology, and expected impacts. This success is a testament to the strong inter-college collaboration and the dedication of the COED project team, including Ms. Leah E. Perez (Program Chair of Secondary Education), Mr. Ronnel Palasin, and Ms. Jennlyn Bombay.

The project team extends their profound appreciation to University President Dr. Charlemagne G. Laviña and Dr. Marlon L. Atanacio for their unwavering institutional support of research excellence.

This joint endeavor marks a significant milestone in LU’s continuous pursuit of impactful research initiatives, underscoring our commitment to sustainable development and inspiring the future generations of innovators and agricultural leaders.
