Laguna University (LU) proudly participated in the 2025 Association of Local Colleges and Universities (ALCU) National Convention, a premier gathering of leaders and stakeholders in Philippine higher education.
The convention took place on October 27–28, 2025, at the Grand Ballroom of the Heritage Hotel Manila, with this year’s theme: “From Local to Global: Harnessing the Power of LCUs for Sustainable Development.” The theme highlights the crucial role of Local Colleges and Universities (LCUs) in advancing national growth and contributing to global competitiveness.
The two-day event brought together LCU Presidents, Vice Presidents, Deans, Administrative and Program Heads, Faculty, and Staff, along with representatives from State Universities and Colleges (SUCs), Private Higher Education Institutions (PHEIs), and Local Government Units (LGUs). The attendees from LU are: Dr. Charlemagne G. Laviña, University President, Dr. Marlon L. Atanacio, VP for Academic Affairs and Dr. Rosalie D. Buban, Dean, College of Education. Participants exchanged insights on how LCUs can drive educational innovation and sustainable community development.
Plenary sessions tackled vital topics, including the LCU Local Government Act, complementarity among LCUs and other higher education institutions, internationalization, curriculum enhancement, public funding and finance, revisiting outcome-based education (OBE), and the Higher Education Development Fund.
Through active participation in conventions like this, Laguna University continues to strengthen its commitment to excellence, collaboration, and the advancement of higher education in the country.
