Laguna University Hails Faculty on Teacher’s Day, Vows ‘Renewed Commitment to Education

SANTA CRUZ, Laguna — Laguna University held a special Teacher’s Day program on October 3 to honor its teaching and non-teaching personnel, emphasizing their vital role in shaping the minds and values of future generations.

The celebration gathered faculty members from various colleges, non-teaching staff, and students at the Laguna Sports Complex Main Gymnasium. The program opened with a prayer led by the LU Christian Campus Ministry, followed by welcome remarks from Central Student Council President Eddanelle Occidental.

OIC-University President Dr. Monette O. Bato delivered an inspirational message, encouraging educators to continue “shaping minds with excellence.”

A university-wide toast led by Human Resource Management Office Director Mr. Anastacio R. L. Cruz was offered in honor of the educators’ dedication and service, drawing applause from the audience.

Recognized Student Organizations (RSOs) staged skits and serenades that portrayed real-life classroom scenarios, blending humor and sincerity to reflect the shared experiences of teachers and students. The performances highlighted the strong bond between educators and learners, even amid academic challenges.

Class officers and RSOs from different colleges presented tokens of appreciation to their professors as a gesture of gratitude. A video presentation produced by the Laguna University Frontier Editorial Board followed, emphasizing the impact of teachers on students’ personal and social development beyond the classroom.

The event concluded with a message from Dr. Rosemarie Sabado, Dean of the College of Education and Vice President for Academic Affairs. She reminded fellow educators of their lasting influence, saying, “As teachers, our students are bound to look up to us as their role models. Therefore, being their role models, we should be the best models for them.”

The celebration was a reflection of  the university’s commitment to recognizing and valuing the contributions of its educators, affirming their role as agents of change in education and society.
