Laguna University – CESU Holds Orientation and Re-Orientation for AY 2025–2026

The Laguna University–Community Extension Service Unit (CESU) formally kicked off Academic Year 2025–2026 with its Orientation and Re-Orientation held on August 29, 2025, at the Laguna University Library. With the theme “From Vision to Action: Shaping Resilient Communities Together,” the activity brought together faculty coordinators, student leaders, and volunteers to revisit CES guidelines and strengthen Laguna University’s commitment to community service.

The program began with a solemn prayer led by Mr. Raven C. Tagle, followed by an Audio-Visual Presentation of the Philippine National Anthem and Laguna University Hymn.

In her keynote message, Ms. Justine S. Samson, Head of CESU, warmly welcomed the participants composed of newly designated CES Coordinators from different colleges, departments, and units, as well as Recognized Student Organization (RSO) Presidents and Representatives. She discussed the main objectives of the orientation, presented CESU’s existing policies and procedures under LU:AA-GU-01, and emphasized the importance of stewardship, accountability, and passion in carrying out extension programs and activities.

Adding to the discussion, Ms. Mae Marie C. Lim, General Secretary of the Laguna Central Student Council, walked participants through the Activity Proposal Form for RSOs and volunteers. She explained the submission and approval process, ensuring that student-led outreach projects will be well-coordinated and effectively implemented.

The event also highlighted CESU’s plans and programs for AY 2025–2026, which are designed to align with the strengths of each college and the unique needs of partner communities. Another key part of the program was the formal recognition of the newly appointed CES Coordinators, who will play a crucial role in linking the university to its extension partners.

In closing, Ms. Samson reminded everyone that community service is more than just a requirement—it is a shared responsibility and a meaningful act of service to society. She encouraged both coordinators and student leaders to take part in sustainable community engagement that creates real impact.

The orientation ended on an inspiring note, setting the direction for a year of strengthened partnerships, collaborative initiatives, and impactful service-learning programs at Laguna University.
