Former Commissioner Amielyn M. Limbona of the Philippine Commission on Women addressed the significance of cybersecurity and combatting cyberbullying to students of Laguna University during a symposium held on August 18, 2023, at the Laguna Sports Complex Gymnasium.
She emphasized that bullying is not only committed face-to-face but also online.
“We are all prone to online abuse and online addiction therefore, we should be responsible in sticking ourselves online,” said Limbona.
Together with Maria Aileen Mendoza of the Black Bear Security, she brought awareness to first- and second-year students of Laguna University about cyberbullying and advised them to be responsible when sharing online and when using their gadgets.
Meanwhile, Al Azareeth Madale, executive director of Motivational Club Incorporated, focused his discussion on mental health and what students can do to take proper care of their mental health.
Madale also discussed the growing number of mental health problems among students.
“The top burden of the Philippines is their mental health. There are high cases of mental health problems that fall on the students, who end up hurting themselves,” he added.
Moreover, psychology teachers informed students about the free consultation in their office whenever students feel stressed, and they also informed the students about the guidance office that can help LUnians to fight depression.
Governor Ramil Hernandez pays a visit in the symposium that promotes mental health and eradicates cyberbullying with the safe act held at Laguna Sports Complex Gymnasium last August 18, 2023.
