On December 19, 2023, the College of Computing Studies (CCS) hosted an Internship Pre-Deployment Orientation & Learning Session via Zoom. The activity aimed to equip the 172 fourth-year students with essential skills crucial for their internships. The orientation was hosted by Mr. James Aaron Guevarra, CCS faculty member.
Dean Marlon L. Atanacio set the tone with his opening remarks, underscoring the pivotal role internships play in connecting academic knowledge with real-world application. Mr. Christian Jay B. Tantan then introduced the first speaker, Mr. Al Pagulayan, Leader of Talent Delivery at Concentrix CVG Phils. Inc. Pagulayan’s presentation on “Internship Needs for Interns for the 21st Century” provided invaluable insights into industry expectations.
Following Pagulayan’s presentation, an open forum moderated by Mr. Guevarra, facilitated a dynamic exchange of ideas between participants and Pagulayan. Ms. Bea May M. Belarmino, another CCS faculty member, recognized Pagulayan’s contributions to the internship program by presenting him with a certificate of recognition.
Mr. Kim Ritardo, a faculty member, introduced Mr. Tony Angelo Alvaran, Director of Placement Alumni and Linkage Office of Laguna University, as the second speaker. Mr. Alvaran shared insights on “Internship Guidelines and Work Ethics,” offering students practical advice for success. The session included an open forum, which fostered a deeper discussion. Following the discourse, Ms. Meca F. Ibarrientos, also a CCS faculty member facilitated the awarding of the Certificate of Recognition to Mr. Alvaran as an acknowledgement of his valuable contribution as the second speaker.
The event concluded with closing remarks from Mr. Kurt Robin A. San Jose, the CCS OJT Coordinator, expressing gratitude and reinforcing the university’s commitment to student empowerment. Participants engaged in a virtual photo opportunity, capturing memorable moments that symbolized the triumph of the CCS Internship Pre-Deployment Orientation.
