Empowering the Community of Barangay Tibatib

On November 14, 2025, students from the Bachelor of Science in Accountancy (BSA) and Bachelor of Science in Accounting Information System (BSAIS), together with the Laguna University Gender and Development Office (LU-GAD) and faculty from the College of Business, Administration, and Accountancy (CBAA), spearheaded a community extension activity in Barangay Tibatib, Cavinti, Laguna.

With the theme “Empowering Communities through Digital Accounting, Tax Literacy, and Gender-Inclusive Entrepreneurship,” the initiative aimed to equip local participants with practical knowledge on mobile accounting tools, basic tax literacy, and inclusive business practices that promote gender equity and women’s empowerment.

BSA students Bill John Ballesteros, Angela Mae Dimacali, and Racel Joy Bonza, along with BSAIS students Elson John Paballa and Rose Anjeanette Yu, led the discussion on the use of free mobile applications for accounting and basic tax literacy. Meanwhile, the topic on gender-inclusive entrepreneurship was thoroughly discussed by Ms. Ma. Princess Teresa B. Bituin, LU-GAD focal person. “Being an entrepreneur and having a business is for all gender preferences. Everyone has an equal opportunity in entrepreneurship and livelihood activities,” Ms. Bituin emphasized, encouraging participants to recognize and apply gender-inclusive principles in their daily lives.

The activity is part of Laguna University’s ongoing community extension initiatives in its adopted community, Barangay Tibatib.
