On September 16, 2025, the Laguna University Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering students (LU-BSME) joined the PSIM National Mechanical Engineering Students’ Conference (MESCON) at The Tent, Villar City, Las Piñas.
The annual event gathered mechanical engineering students from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao for plenary talks, academic and hands-on competitions, and creative contests. Activities included the ME Talino Quiz Bee, CAD Challenge, TransforME: Clash of Bots, AirVolution Design Competition, poster-making, photography, and the MESCON Chess Tournament.
LU-BSME sent 87 students and four faculty members to the conference. The delegation won 1st Runner-Up in the ML Tournament and 2nd Runner-Up in the AirVolution Design Competition (Powered by Panasonic). The AirVolution team was composed of Allysa Ashley Nofuente, Rex Angelo Oxina, James Peter Manalo, Arvin Jay Galvez, and Mark Anthony Develleres. Students Prince Jhovi Mabilangan, Ginna Fe Macasinag, and Edward Arcega represented the university in the ME Talino Quiz Bee.
Laguna University also served as a partner school by hosting the MESCON Chess Tournament through the LU-BSME Chess Committee led by Karl Michael Sancon, Aldrich Corcuera, Benedict Agbisit, John Michael Vereña, and William Prado.
The conference featured keynote addresses that underscored the importance of integrity, creativity, and resilience in the engineering profession. Partner companies also provided opportunities for collaboration and industry exposure. LU-BSME’s participation in MESCON 2025 highlighted not only its competitiveness but also its commitment to collaboration, professional growth, and leadership in the engineering field.
