Laguna University – Young Entrepreneurs Society (LU-YES) launched its first-ever academic competition, “Entrelympics 2024: Unleashing Entrepreneurial Excellence,” on July 2024 at the Audio-Visual Room of the RLH Building, featuring a series of contests that tested the knowledge, creativity, and communication skills of Bachelor of Science in Entrepreneurship students.
The event showcased four major competitions: Quiz Bee, Case Analysis, Advertisement Video Presentation, and Extemporaneous Speech. The activity was designed to cultivate entrepreneurial competencies, strengthen academic excellence, and prepare students for future business challenges.
LU-YES Adviser Ms. Donna A. Esguerra and BSEntrep Program Coordinator Ms. Katrina Clare M. Labios graced the event and commended the student-leaders behind the initiative. They highlighted the importance of student leadership and expressed their support for the winners, who are expected to represent the university in future competitions at the University of the Philippines – Los Baños.
In the Quiz Bee, participants demonstrated their mental agility and teamwork as they tackled a range of questions under time pressure. The Case Analysis segment challenged students to examine a real-world business scenario, pushing them to analyze, strategize, and provide well-reasoned solutions during the on-the-spot Q&A portion.
The Advertisement Video competition showcased students’ creativity in promoting local products. One standout entry featured “Kinulob na Itik,” a delicacy from Victoria, Laguna, using strategic storytelling, visual metaphors, and marketing techniques to impress the panel of judges.
Meanwhile, the Extemporaneous Speech contest allowed participants to express their views on social and economic issues. Contestants were evaluated based on clarity, persuasiveness, and depth of content.
The “Entrelympics” concluded with the acknowledgment of students’ efforts in promoting innovation, critical thinking, and community-focused entrepreneurship. LU-YES reaffirmed its commitment to molding future business leaders who are not only profit-driven but also purpose-driven.
The event was attended by over 800 students and is expected to become an annual activity of the BSEntrep Department.
