Laguna University’s College of Computing Studies (CCS) conducted its Internship Pre-Deployment Orientation 2024 on December 12, 2024, at the Audio-Visual Room, RLH Building, with the theme “Adapt, Learn, Thrive: Succeeding in the Modern Workplace.” The event aimed to prepare fourth-year students for their upcoming on-the-job training (OJT) by equipping them with essential knowledge, skills, and a professional mindset.
CCS Dean Dr. Marlon L. Atanacio opened the program by emphasizing the value of internships in connecting classroom learning with real-world experience. He highlighted how OJT opportunities help students apply theoretical knowledge, build competencies, and develop insights necessary for career readiness.
The first speaker, Mr. Tony Angelo C. Alvaran, Director of the Placement, Alumni, and Linkage Office, discussed “Internship Guidelines and Work Ethics.” His session included an open forum that allowed students to engage with questions and reflections. Mr. Mc Joshua Y. de Lima, BSIT Program Coordinator, awarded Mr. Alvaran a Certificate of Recognition for his contributions.
Ms. Patrecia Toledo, event host and CCS instructor, next introduced Ms. Eliza Marione B. Sandagan, Administrative Officer of the Human Resource Management Office, who gave a talk on “Personality Development.” She offered practical advice on professionalism, proper workplace behavior, and the importance of character during internships. An open forum followed, where students shared their thoughts and queries. Ms. Toledo concluded the segment with a Bible verse from Proverbs 3:5–6. A Certificate of Recognition was also presented to Ms. Sandagan by Mr. de Lima.
Dr. Atanacio returned to discuss internship requirements and processes, providing students with clear guidelines before, during, and after their OJT deployment.
The orientation concluded with closing remarks from Mr. Kurt Robin A. San Jose, CCS OJT Coordinator.
