Laguna University and JOGEO-7 Aggregates Corp. Partner for Environmental Stewardship and Innovative Education

Laguna University (LU) and JOGEO-7 Aggregates Corp. (J7AC) have officially joined forces to advance environmental protection and enhance educational practices through a newly signed Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) recently. The partnership aims to integrate innovative educational approaches with responsible environmental management in mining operations.

The MOA formalizes a collaborative framework under which LU will support J7AC’s Environmental Protection and Enhancement Program (EPEP), as mandated by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Administrative Order No. 2010-21. This program is designed to mitigate the environmental impacts of mining activities and promote sustainable practices.

LU’s involvement will be spearheaded through its LU-Collaborative Research in Education for the Advancement of Technology and the Environment (LU-CREATE) project. This initiative seeks to blend innovative education with technology to address pressing socio-economic and environmental challenges.

“This partnership underscores our commitment to environmental stewardship and community engagement,” said Dr. Monette O. Bato, University President of Laguna University. “By collaborating with JOGEO-7 Aggregates Corp., we aim to foster a culture of sustainability while providing our students and faculty with valuable research opportunities.”

Engr. Jericho H. Laguisma, Plant Engineer of JOGEO-7 Aggregates Corp., echoed these sentiments, stating, “We are excited to partner with Laguna University in this endeavor. Their expertise in research and community engagement will be invaluable as we work to minimize our environmental impact and contribute to the well-being of the local community.”

The collaboration marks a significant step towards integrating environmental responsibility with educational innovation, setting a precedent for future partnerships between academic institutions and industry in Laguna.
