Laguna University participated in the Bantay Halalan 2023 orientation for volunteers last October 27, 2023 that was organized by the College of Development Communication (CDC) of the University of the Philippines Los Banos (UPLB).
The short meeting was attended onsite by various schools including Laguna University, led by the BA Comm Program Chair Dr. Olga J. Domingo, along with her second-year students, Ms. Faith M. Bañares and Ms. Claire E. Tolentino. Dean Buban and other LU students were able to attend it via zoom.
The orientation was focused on preparing the volunteers for the necessary coverage protocols and tasks for the upcoming Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections that will be held on October 30, 2023.
The host from CDC, Mr. Miguel Victor T. Durian, emphasized the significance of volunteerism and ethical standards to ensure the success of the event.
The volunteers will be tasked into two components for transmedia reportage: broadcast component to be led by Mr. Guien Garma and digital component to be led by Ms. Charlene Mae Arkaina.
Furthermore, the hosts distributed media passes to all volunteers who signed up to participate. The orientation concluded with a question-and-answer session during which the participants were given the opportunity to ask and clarify questions.
To accommodate those who were unable to attend the on-site orientation, CDC provided a zoom-recorded link for the volunteers’ convenience.
